Research Associate

 

Walter R. McDonald & Associates, Inc. (WRMA) is a leading provider of consulting services to human services agencies and organizations, with offices in Sacramento, California and the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. WRMA specializes in the design, development, and implementation of advanced approaches to data capture, analysis and management, technical assistance in programmatic and technological innovation, performance monitoring, and the evaluation of programs designed to improve the outcomes of vulnerable children and families.

WRMA has an immediate opening for a Research Associate to work in our Rockville, MD office. The Research Associate will be responsible for assisting with the operation and delivery of services by the National Tribal Home Visiting Technical Assistance Center. The Center supports the implementation of home visiting grants by approximately two dozen Tribes, intertribal organizations, and urban organizations serving American Indians and Alaska Natives. The Research Associate will also work on additional human services related projects.

Duties:

  • Support the Project Director(s) on all project activities as a team member
  • Maintain the project work plan schedule and tracking of activities of all partners
  • Organize project work products and participate in drafting and editing of many products
  • Produce routine status and summary reports
  • Participate in project meetings, planning and training sessions
  • Provide technical assistance based on needs of grantees under the supervision of the Project Director(s)
  • Build relationships with grantees through phone conversations
  • Conduct literature reviews, syntheses of findings, Internet searches, etc. upon request

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Knowledge of American Indian/Alaska Native culture and the delivery of social and health programs for American Indians/ Alaska Natives
  • Experience working within Tribal communities and/or with organizations serving American Indian and Alaska Natives.
  • Knowledge of Maternal, Infant and Child Health programs and issues, ideally in an American Indian or Alaska Native setting.
  • Master's degree or equivalent experience in program design, delivery and evaluation in the social sciences or health professions. This includes a degree in public health, social work, psychology, sociology, anthropology, public policy, or education.
  • Advanced skills in all Microsoft products
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized and accurate
  • Developed ability to multi task and work under deadline
  • Able to complete assignments with minimal guidance and as a team member
  • Able to do some project related travel
  • Able to speak in public settings
  • Must be based in Washington DC
